Mac Mac
The resort use to be a forestry station. In 1999 Coen and Sonja Vermaak took Mac Mac over and started renting out the self-catering forestry houses. The view of Mauchberg, the tranquil atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, and being a central base to explore the popular Escarpment area and Kruger National Park, became known with time. The accommodation and camping became more and more popular. Mac Mac Forest Retreat underwent constant upgrading. A cosy and intimate bar was added. A swimming pool was put in. And some activities were added. Eventually Mac Mac have grown into Mac Mac Eco Adventures & Getaways. This is one of the most famous national parks in the world and the oldest one in Africa. It is 350km long from north to south, at most 60km in width and covers a surface area of 1 948528 hectares. The park's genuine African atmosphere has an enchantment that entices the visitor to return. Those who wish to experience it have to relax, look and listen. Once one has learnt to appreciate every aspect of bush life, there is no end to the surprises it holds and it becomes possible to enjoy the park to its fullest extent. We have 5 Safari Tents. The safari tents each have 2 single beds with a double sleeper couch inside. Each tent also has its own shower, basin and toilet. The tents are not self-catering, but there is a restaurant on the premises.
The views from the tents are remarkable to say the least, rolling mountains and lush forest is what you will find.
In close proximity you will find our swimming pool, restaurant, pub and activity centre. Hiking trails are also available for those nature lovers.

We have a very cosy camping ground with 6 stands. The ablutions are rustic with gas geysers, so there is always hot water. There is 4 power points (normal 3 point plugs), so bring your electrical extension along.

In the 1840's the world wile gripped with gold fever, when large quantities of this precious metal were discovered in California. These early finds stimulated the search for gold in other countries. The history of the Mpumalanga gold fields date back to ancient times, when unknown miners worked the quartz reefs for gold. Traces of their mining activities can still be found all over the Northern Province and Zimbabwe.

The houses all have a kitchen with cutlery, crockery, stove, fridge, braai facilities outside, and a fireplace inside. The bedding is supplied. Everyone needs to bring their own towels though.

Currently the houses do not have TV's inside, but there is a warm, cosy pub on the premises with DSTV.

This house is an 8-sleeper house, have 4 bedrooms with 2 single beds each, and 1 bathroom with a shower and a bath, with a separate toilet, lounge with fireplace. All houses have a view and a braai area
Mac Lachlan House:
This house is also an 8-sleeper house that consists of 2 separate units. The main unit have the kitchen, lounge with fireplace, 2 bedrooms (2 single beds each), and a bathroom with a shower and a bath. The second unit consist of 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds each, and an on suite bathroom with a shower.

McFee House:
This 8- sleeper house consists of 4 bedrooms, 1 bedroom with a double bed, and 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds each. There is 1 bathroom with a shower, bath and toilet, with a second separate toilet.

McDonald House:
This is a 12-sleeper house with 4 separate sleeping units. The kitchen and lounge is in the main unit. Also in the main unit are 1 bedroom with a double bed, with 2 single beds in the lounge, and a bathroom with a shower and bath. The other units consist of a room with 4 single beds, 2 rooms with 2 single beds each, and a bathroom with a shower (not directly connected with the rooms).
